Dealing with Rejection and Finding your Why

This last week, we attended a conference in Las Vegas with over 3,700 of the best agents in the country. We got to share some great ideas with others, and we learned many things as well. One of the best things we learned is that the #1 key to success as a Realtor is the ability to deal with rejection. The person that can deal with getting the most "no's" will sell the most homes. Once you learn to deal with this, it will turn your career around in dramatic fashion.

When I started out as an agent, I was pretty shy and timid. I didn't want to pick up the phone and call people because I was afraid of people hanging up on me or having to deal with rejection. Once I overcame that obstacle, however, I went from selling a few homes a year to selling much, much more.

The key to dealing with rejection is finding your why. Why do you do what you do? Why do you sell real estate? Once you find a why in your life and it becomes big enough, your ability to deal with rejection becomes easier and you give up the need to be liked by everyone you come in contact with.
