Advice from the Sharks: Know Your Numbers!

I was recently able to attend a mastermind in San Diego, and I had a great time. All the big players in the real estate world were there, including Barbara Corcoran and Kevin O'Leary, AKA Mr. Wonderful.  They talked to us about the contestants that win on the show, and what they have in common. Here are the three things that they shared with us that the winners have in common:

1. They are able to articulate the opportunity in 90 seconds or less.
2. They are successful in convincing investors that they are the right team to execute the business plan.
3. They know their numbers inside and out and have a comprehensive understanding of their business models.



This advice actually translates pretty well when talking about listing presentations. Here are 3 things you need to do in every listing presentation:

1. You've got to convey the benefits of working with you.
2. You've got to convey that you're the right person for the job by expressing it in the right way.
3. You better know your numbers inside and out (list-to-sale ratio, median home prices, absorption rates, etc.).

This will likely be one of the largest investments that a person will make. Ensuring you do these 3 things will ensure your success on listing presentations.
